It's been a while.....

It's been a while since I had time to blog. The heat has been just too damn outrageous.

The weekend was not a bad one besides the heat. Friday, I went to sofa lounge with bananas to meet up with Mel and company. As we walked up the stairs to the club, I just noticed it was HOT as fuck. I having a drink in that weather was no good, it only made shit hotter. Most of the people there at the club had flyers fanning themselves. We didn't last more than 30-45 minutes at Sofa that night.

Saturday was chill, just vegged out. Tried to just beat the weather. Saturday evening I worked on some choreography. Choreo for PDC as well as for FSSJ.

Woke up Sunday morning and it was still hot. Not as hot as Saturday (yet), but it was still warm. Did the usuals, got ready, headed over to SJ with Bananas to teach FSSJ. Thank god it was at a work out place where there's fans and AC. Before entering the facility, I got to have a taste of how bad it is in San Jose. That is just damned ridiculous hot, like Vegas. I seriously thought my skins was melting or suffering from disease which has burning. After teaching, we headed over to meet up with Josh and Sarah. Awesome times, yet it was still hot. Learned alot about ants (animal planet). Swooped up some clothes and met up with Justin at the wood. After about 10PM, we finally headed out to go swimming.

I was pretty scared to go swimming. It's been years and I wasn't even sure if I remembered how. All in all, I did aight, I had fun, I'd do it again. Most important thing.

Practice yesterday was cool. Jeka showed me her warm ups (since I missed it) and I got to see Sean's choreography for the first time upclose with him doing it. i really like it. It's not what we would normally do, but I think that's the best part. It's the biggest element of surprise for those who have made alot of prejudgements about PDC within it's first year (still ain't made it yet people!). Jeka's choreography gets better every piece, which is a very good thing. Musicality is awesome and choice of moves is fair or above. She has the "loose-hand" style which I call it. It's a cool style, it makes it flow more. My whole take on that style is, if you're goin to have your hands more free, you gotta make up for it with levels and execution/feeling.

Sean's choreography is nice. It reminds me of someone who was jazz/modern trained, as well as trained in hiphop. it has very good levels, character and of course meaning/feeling behind why you are doing moves. I think at times, people get caught up in wanting to do cool moves, when, in actuality, dancing is about expression and interpretation. You don't have to be as technical as you may think. But.... on a professional level, you want to be able to have a great mix of both. You want people to love it, and you want people to love doing it. Most often, the stuff people love to watch, is the stuff that doesn't feel like you're dancing or moving much.

Lately, most of my choreo has been groove and flow. Just making things flow seamlessly together. For my next few pieces, I'm really hoping to break that up. Maybe not have as much of a groove and add some eyecandy for the audience to keep them on their toes.

That's about it for my usual rant. I wanted to make this long since I missed a few days, but I started to just have it coming out like no holdin back.

DiRictor: I'm very proud of PDC. We're on our way, and we're not even a year deep in the game. People are starting to get my style and I am hoping they see that, there's more to learning choreography, but learning how to make your body committ, no matter how far fetched it can seem.

Production: Things have taken a slower pace lately. I am very ok with it. I touched up some music yesterday before practice. No word on Collette's writings, but it should be fresh.

AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The show I am to be feautured in is looking to be pushed back to next March or April. Which is definately fine by me. I already got what we are to do for BFest (Feb) planned, so this will help with the chaos of creating choreography. Just gotta make it through this year.........

Smoke / Tiki Lounge

Last night I went out to this bar called Smoke. It's held at the Smoke Tiki Lounge in DownTown SJ. It was really random how it came about, but I am very glad I got to go.

Highlights include:
- Meeting Justin's Co-Workers
- Seeing Drunk Rory
- Running into Pierre from Chain/Nu-Origin
- Seeing Matt Spindler from AHS, holy damn.
- E-Rock!!!!!!! (Bobby, Kumo & Mikey).

Very awesome stuff. I really was excited to see E-Rock. I haven't seen them in years, seriously. On another note, I just got the Buzz Balads CD and The Strokes CD (finally. way overdue on this one).

I'm digging myself into this crazy artistic/creative rut. It appears I have to make choreography for a shitload of things....
1) Future Shock SJ (Due 7-23)
2) Culture Shock Oakland (Due Unknown)
3) Future Shock Oakland (Due Unknown)
4) SF State PCN (Due August/Mid-August)
5) APT (Due Unknown)
6) The Company (Due Unknown)
7) Choreographer Showcase (Early Sept)
8) Funks Class (Sometime in Aug or Sept)
9) Phoenix Medley 1 (Due ASAP)
10) Phoenix Medley 2 (Due Unknown)

Basketball??

Longest day ever. Best part of it was, I didn't notice till the end......

So I went to sleep around 4:30-4:45AM on Monday Morning (Sunday Night) and had work at 8:30AM. Worked until about 5:30, got home around 6-6:15PM. Got clothes to play some ball and took off.

Justin and I played some ball with random folks at Lake Elizabeth. That ends around 8:15PM and then we got to head to practice which starts at 9PM. Ran PDC practice, which btw was very awesome last night. Great focus and energy, shit is mcDonalds..... I'm lovin it.

Everyone worked it out, I felt it was no use in teaching anything else and suffering in the hot studio, we ended early at 11:15PM. Swooped to McDonalds after practice and got something to eat. Got home to eat my food around 12:30AM. I hate math, so I'm not goin to do it. But I was up for way long and I was just going with the flow.

It was a great day because I felt I did something constantly. Basketball tourney in August, I gotta train up and play some more. Too bad I twisted my ankle playing basketball and at practice.

Network, Alcohol and DMV

So this past weekend wasn't majorly interesting. I missed the Funks Bonfire and I missed Odon as well. Really wanted to go to Odon, but there's always next year.

So back to the title...... Network, Alcohol and DMV.

I went to the DMV on Sat morning to pay my long overdue registration. It was closed....damnit!!! But in good news, I got to hang with the Fam for a while on Sat, that was fresh.

Good news, Collette likes my latest track (track4/boo whats yo name) track!! I'm actually starting to get more of a groove and figure how to make the music more quickly with it sounding pretty indepth.

Let's get back into the Alcohol..... drank alot this weekend. Actually was doin some Vodka Crans this morning until about 3-3:30am. Got up for work at 8 and made it to work by 8:45. 15 mins late, but I made it. We got in some good Trival Pursuit last night. That was awesome, gotta get that cheddar.

Bananas and DieHard had to teach class yesterday. It was interesting to watch the change in choreography. The change came very drastically. I actually love that part of collaborating. Is to get into someones element and make the choreography seem not too far off. If who I'm working with is very abstract, then I do what I do to the abstract tip. Their class was very intense because the song was fast and as always, it's a plus to watch folks sweatin it up.

I got to see Shaun, Aimee, Mike, Potrick, Ryan and Chris. Chris showed me some of his choreography, pretty awesome. It's amazing to watch someone silly and have a popping background create choreography which is so deep and intimate. Very dope, I'm digging his stuff and his style. Got to chop it up with Shaun for a minute, but things are looking very good. He got everything going on and I'm very proud because last year it was pretty brand new and this year it seems as if he's done it for years (working with the studio and different groups). It's going to be sad to see Shaun move to LA with Aimes, but I'm excited because it's long overdue. Definately look for alot of work with myself and Shaun as well as myself and Potrick.

Aight, time to get back to work and find some more music. Got the new Musiq, Bobby V and Kelis stuff. Dun Dun Dun.

Double-Edged Sword (pt 1)

Socially speaking...... I don't understand society and the mutual rules of the 'game'.

For instance, it's not that women don't trust men, but women most often don't trust other women. Why is that? Why is it that, men are the trusted ones, but still have to suffer the repercussions or insecurities?

Why does a man have to ask a woman out now a days? Women have fought for rights to vote, be in the military, etc. If women want to be president, I am all for it, and I'm all for a balance of equality on both ends. A woman can pick up a man on a date, it should be no problem. Say the club setting..... Everyone is all done up, lookin nice....... Women should be able to go and ask a guy to dance, ask for a drink, etc. It's a double-edged sword when a man has to do all the work, but has to abide by mutual guidelines.

If a woman wants freedom and a woman wants rights, again, I think it's something people should receive without question. For a guy to say anything about a girl "hitting on him" (or anything to that extent) to his girlfriend, he can be labeled as many things....
1) Stupid for saying anything (in most males heads)
2) Honest
3) Self-Assured

I'm sure there are many more. The problem with the scenario is, when a guy does it(mentions that he was hit on), a big majority of women tend to just have this big mental strike of ligtining. You can hear it in their tone, see it on their face, notice in their body language, etc. This goes back to the mutual game or guidelines of a relationship.

So should males not ever say anything?.......
Is that looked upon as being mischievious?
I don't know.
Is it looked at as not being honest?
I don't know.
It is looked at as being smart?
I don't know.

The problem is, women can do 'this' but men can't do 'this'. Of course, there are things which men 'do' that women aren't supposed (by mutual standards) 'do'. I feel the tables just aren't even. Women are allowed to get away with more, saying more, doing more, being more insecure than a man having troubles or not being able to say 'things'.

Is this fair?
I don't know.
Should it change?
I don't know.
Would it be smart to change?
I don't know.

Faucet Faucet

Still recovering from last night's fun drunken times. Hurtin at work, but I'm toughin it out. hollerlewya.

Good news, I got asked to be a part of this show in early Sept. My first side project, I'm still tryin to figure out what I want to do, but the show is to feature choreographers and their work. So I have to basically come with my sh*t and come with it right. Dancers are up to me, which is cool, but could be drama depending on certain people.

Director Talk: Pretty excited for practice. It's been a while since I've been excited to go to practice. It's definately different as a director going to practice. For the most part, everyone is on point and working it out. I love turning around and seeing everyone drenched.

Random1: Lookin forward to get my jacket from Evil.
Random2: Lookin forward to "Niggas Night" with Maps, been a minute for the boys to go out and do our thang.

Here's what I just took out the oven......

And..... So it is..........

Back to blogging. I wanted to move from Xanga. I just not feeling it as a whole. On to bigger and better things. Stay tuned.............
